Job description

This SkillBridge Engineering program provides transitioning service members with structured training to support deployments of Shift5's platform across defense and commercial environments, ensuring successful installation, integration, and operational performance in the field. The program focuses on education, observation, and mission exposure with the goal to prepare participants for a career at Shift5 supporting national security programs.
Program Objectives
  • Systems Deployment & Integration: Learn to execute and support the physical and logical integration of complex hardware-software platforms across diverse operational environments.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Assist senior engineers with the installation, configuration, and diagnostics of electromechanical systems, specialized hardware components, and integrated software suites.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams to gain exposure to the full product lifecycle, from prototyping and assembly to final field implementation.
  • System Performance & Validation: Assist in tracking and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) related to hardware reliability, system uptime, and integration success to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Design & Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve technical documentation, assembly checklists, and hardware installation workflows to enhance repeatability and scalability.
  • Operational Technology (OT) Navigation: Gain hands-on experience working within specialized environments (e.g., manufacturing floors, secure facilities, or transit hubs) and navigating the constraints of regulated sites.
  • Field Operations & Scaling: Contribute to the development of standardized engineering toolkits and deployment manuals to streamline the scaling of physical system rollouts.
  • Willingness to travel (up to ~50% as needed).
