You will be pivotal in defining and implementing best practices for cloud network security and traffic management across our global environment. Your technical leadership is needed to ensure ModMed's cloud network foundation is secure, high-performing, and seamlessly integrated with our hybrid cloud strategy.
This position requires a consistent presence in our Boca Raton, FL office (3 days/week) to foster high-bandwidth collaboration and mentorship.
What you'll do

  • Lead technical strategy in the following areas:
    • Network Architecture: Architect, build, and operate scalable, resilient global public cloud network infrastructure, including VPC design, Transit Gateways, and hybrid connectivity solutions like dedicated interconnects and site-to-site VPN.
    • Network Security & Traffic Management: Define and implement cloud network security standards, including advanced traffic routing, firewall management, and protection services like cloud-native WAF and DDoS protection services.
    • Network Observability & Performance: Implement robust monitoring, traffic analysis, and flow logging to ensure performance, reliability, and cost-optimization of network resources.
  • Implement and refine monitoring solutions using observability tools DataDog, ensuring proactive issue identification and efficient resource utilization.
  • Lead the development of reusable IaC modules using tools like Terraform or Ansible to eliminate manual configuration.
  • Ensure strict adherence to industry-standard security frameworks and data protection regulations (SOC2/HIPAA) while balancing cost implications.
  • Mentor junior and senior team members, fostering a culture where every engineer is a technical leader in their area of expertise
  • Engage in face-to-face architectural white-boarding and cross-functional planning from our Boca Raton headquarters.

What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 8 years in Cloud Engineering, SRE, software engineering, or a similar role, with a proven track record of solving complex problems in large-scale public cloud environments (AWS preferred).
  • Deep operational expertise in public cloud networking services and hybrid connectivity, specifically focusing on Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) architecture, cloud-native transit routing solutions, dedicated interconnects, and advanced routing strategies in multi-account environments.
  • Demonstrated mastery in network engineering, including VPC architecture, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, and cloud network security.
  • Deep proficiency with Terraform and other cloud-native technologies.
  • Able to participate in an occasional on-call rotation to address high-priority production issues.
