Mechanical Engineering Intern | Greenwood Village, CO

This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities.
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Greenwood Village, CO. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry.
You'll support project work within the project's monetary budget, collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations, and assist with documentation, coordination, and periodic job site observations. This role supports hospitality-focused MEP work and other fast-turn project efforts while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with design portions of projects related to mechanical systems according to code and IMEG standards

  • Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment

  • Assist with maintaining good client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files

  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers

  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress

  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check

  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information

  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services as required by the contract services agreement

  • Work within the project's monetary budget and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations

Education
  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong interest in design consulting

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

  • Current work includes national rollout and prototype tenant improvement assignments, repeat brand programs, hospitality and resort projects, Colorado-area civic and mixed-use efforts, and frequent mechanical, electrical, and plumbing packages on fast-turn scopes.

State of Colorado Pay Range: $22-24 per hour
The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
