Job description

About the Role
Do you take pride in ensuring that mission-critical infrastructure is delivered accurately, documented correctly, and ready for commissioning? We're looking for a Data Center Field Engineer / Project Engineer to support hyperscale data center construction projects through detailed coordination, documentation control, and field execution support.
In this role, you'll provide both technical and administrative support to Site Project Managers and field teams. You'll play a critical role in managing RFIs, submittals, redlines, as-builts, testing documentation, and turnover deliverables-ensuring alignment with client standards, commissioning readiness, and key milestones such as Infra Ready for Commissioning (Cx) and MMR turnover.
This position offers a strong growth path toward Project Manager roles while building deep expertise in hyperscale data center delivery.
What You'll Do - Coordinate Precisely. Document Accurately. Deliver Reliably.
  • Support Site Project Managers and Senior Project Managers by bridging technical and administrative gaps on active hyperscale data center projects, with daily field presence to resolve issues and support Foremen and crews.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, redlines, as-builts, and field documentation to ensure accuracy, timely responses, and alignment with design, client standards, and commissioning requirements.
  • Identify and escalate design conflicts, constructability issues, and scope discrepancies early to avoid schedule, cost, or quality impacts.
  • Coordinate quality inspections, punch walks, and commissioning readiness activities, including tracking and validating test results and Infra Ready for Cx deliverables.
  • Interface with client engineers and construction representatives, providing clear updates on documentation status, testing progress, and milestone readiness.
  • Track installation progress, material alignment, and field changes in coordination with Foremen, supply chain, QA/QC, and documentation teams.
  • Support cost control, forecasting, billing, and change order development by validating quantities, labor impacts, and documentation accuracy.
  • Leverage engineering, BIM/VDC, PMO, and preconstruction resources to close technical gaps, support turnover, and feed lessons learned back into enterprise systems.

What You Bring
  • Strong understanding of data center construction workflows and documentation control.
  • Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, redlines, as-builts, and turnover documentation.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and milestone-driven delivery models.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and Division 27/28 systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Clear, professional communication skills with field teams and client stakeholders.
  • Desire to grow into project management and leadership roles.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
    (Equivalent field experience considered).
  • 1-3 years of experience in construction engineering, project engineering, or project support
(Internship or co-op experience acceptable for entry-level candidates).
  • Working knowledge of Division 27/28 conveyance systems preferred, including structured cabling, OSP, splicing, security, and BDA/DAS.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and documentation tools such as Bluebeam and scheduling or tracking platforms.
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • EIT, FE, or PMP-track credentials a plus.

What's in It for You?
  • Mission-Critical Impact: Contribute to hyperscale data center projects that power global technology and infrastructure.
  • Career Growth: Build a clear path toward Project Engineer and Project Manager roles through hands-on project exposure.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside experienced project managers, field engineers, foremen, and commissioning teams.
  • Client Interaction: Gain exposure to client engineers and construction leadership in high-visibility environments.
  • Competitive Pay & Benefits: Compensation aligned with experience, skills, and growth potential.

Work Environment
This is a hands-on, technical role with time spent both in the field and supporting project documentation. Work is performed in active data center construction environments and may include walking job sites, climbing ladders, lifting up to 40 lbs, and extended periods of computer work. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
Ready to Support Mission-Critical Data Center Delivery?
If you're detail-driven, technically curious, and motivated to grow within hyperscale data center construction, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and be part of a team delivering accurate, high-quality infrastructure-ready for commissioning and built to perform.
