Job Summary
  • Conducts engineering analysis of data collected for various mechanical components. Performs structured work assignments.
  • Designs, analyzes, tests, manufactures, and maintains mechanical components and systems, tests equipment.
  • Applies principles of engineering, physics, and materials science as well as an understanding of core areas including mechanics, kinematics, dynamics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, chemistry, life sciences and electricity along with tools like computer-aided design and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment, and machinery; heating and cooling systems; transport systems; aircraft; watercraft; robotics; medical devices; weapons; and others.
  • Researches, plans, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal hydraulic, or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • Designs, develops, and implements numerical methods for Computational Fluid Dynamics or Structural Mechanics analyses using advanced programming techniques.
  • Conducts research and evaluation of technologies and methods for efficient operation and control of energy, water, and other resources.

Responsibilities
  • Performs assignments of a routine degree of complexity by compiling and evaluating design and test data, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.
  • Assists in the interpretation of results and writing of small sections of technical reports.
  • Completes assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints.
  • May build relationships with internal clients.
  • Contributes to internal research and development studies.
  • May support business development efforts led by others.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 0-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks or Creo CAD software
  • Must be a sole U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
