About this Opportunity

The Mechanical Application Engineer is responsible for maintaining and growing existing accounts and providing technical support to customers and company supplier partners to a diverse range of industries. The position requires a solid understanding of mechanical engineering to provide tailored solutions to support our customers.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties.

  • Provide technical support and product training to Customers
  • Provide application engineering support and start-up assistance to Customers
  • Assist in qualifying the match between Customer requirements and product capabilities
  • Recommend components and Suppliers
  • Facilitate the technical support to potential and existing Customers
  • Help to eliminate sales obstacles through innovative and adaptive approaches
  • Attend industry functions such as associations, conventions, and trade shows
  • Maintain technical knowledge for supporting product applications by participating in external and in-house training activities
  • Assist Salespeople in completing Functional Specification for Automation Systems Projects
  • Assist in reviewing the Functional Specifications for Automation Systems Projects
  • Participate in new design and design review meetings
  • Other duties may be required.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection.


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical sales, preferably in factory automation or a related field.
  • Proven track record in engineering, especially in selling technical products or services.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong mechanical application knowledge of components, and applications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong work ethic pursuing a high standard of excellence.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some movement from area to area, transporting of items such as a laptop computer, small products or parts, product books or catalogs. Position also requires long periods of sitting while driving or riding as a passenger in an automobile to customer sites. Ability to effectively communicate using company-issued devices such as laptop, mobile phone, etc.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office environment. Must be able to move through customer sites, including warehouses, shipyards, oil field rigs, manufacturing facilities, and related machinery, etc. Work outside normal business hours may be required. Travel is required (20% or more).
