Internship Mathematical Physics typically targets undergraduate or early graduate students seeking practical experience in mathematical physics, often through internships. Research Assistant in Physics usually involves graduate students or those pursuing advanced degrees working on specific research projects. While both roles involve physics research, internships focus on learning and exposure, whereas research assistant positions involve contributing to ongoing research efforts.

Position Details
The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa (UTampa) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics position starting in August 2026. This is a nine-month term position with the possibility of an extension to a second academic year depending on Department needs.
Responsibilities
We are seeking an energetic individual with an enthusiasm for teaching physics and astronomy at the undergraduate level, including both science and non-science majors. Engagement in Department, College, and/or University service is also expected. Scholarly activity will be encouraged but not required. Current physics faculty lead active research programs in computational/observational physics and astronomy, and they hold active NASA- and NSF-funded programs. The University encourages the attendance of its faculty at professional meetings by providing funds for travel.
Qualifications
A MS in physics, astronomy, or other closely related field is required, but a PhD in one of these fields is preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
