Job Summary:
The Paid School Psychologist Intern provides school psychological services under the supervision of a certified School Psychologist while completing required internship experiences. The intern supports evaluation, consultation, counseling, and related services to address the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students in both regular and special education settings. This paid internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience aligned with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and graduate program requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Serve as a supervised member of an educational team, which may include principals, supervisors, teachers, district representatives, parents, and agency personnel.
โ€ข Assist in conducting psycho-educational evaluations and reevaluations as formally requested by principals, supervisors, and designated district personnel, under the supervision of a certified School Psychologist.
โ€ข Participate in formal assessment procedures, including standardized testing, and informal assessment activities such as curriculum-based assessments, classroom observations, teacher conferences, and parent conferences.
โ€ข Assist with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of evaluation data and contribute to written evaluation reports under supervision.
โ€ข Support the identification of students' educational, intellectual, social, emotional, and behavioral needs to inform instructional planning and interventions.
โ€ข Participate as a supervised member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, contributing to discussions related to classroom strategies, educational programming, and placement decisions.
โ€ข Attend and participate in meetings and conferences with parents, school staff, and agency representatives, as appropriate.
โ€ข Provide supervised individual or group social skills to students when requested by principals or supervisors and aligned with internship training goals.
โ€ข Assist with in-service presentations or professional learning activities related to school psychology services, as appropriate.
โ€ข Maintain ethical practice, confidentiality, and compliance with district policies, PDE regulations, and professional standards.
โ€ข Complete all required internship documentation and activities in accordance with graduate program and district expectations.
โ€ข Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or supervising School Psychologist to support professional growth and internship objectives.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Enrollment in, or completion of all coursework except the internship component of, a PDE-approved graduate program in School Psychology.
โ€ข Eligibility to serve as a School Psychologist Intern in Pennsylvania.
โ€ข Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
โ€ข Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
โ€ข Professional, caring, and approachable demeanor.
โ€ข Willingness to engage in supervision, feedback, and reflective practice.
โ€ข Must possess or obtain valid PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Criminal History Background Checks within the last twelve (12) months.
Compensation:
$20,000 stipend for the 2026/2027 school year.
