Position Summary:

We offer barrier-free and cost-free programs such as mentorship, access to post-secondary education, information literacy, career and skills development, systems navigation, sports and recreation, and much more. 

Empowerment Squared is looking for a Coordinator, International and Stakeholder Engagement, to join our Programs Division.


Reporting to the Manager, International and Stakeholder Engagement, the Coordinator, International and Stakeholder Engagement  is responsible for providing leadership and assistance with Empowerment Squared’s International programs and stakeholder engagement activities, like the International Youth Internship Program and other educational initiatives for participants to further Empowerment Squared’s mission and vision.  The Coordinator, International and Stakeholder Engagement will help with facilitating programs and participate in strategic planning, outreach and administration for participants both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development:
    • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement programs and initiatives
    • Support curriculum development for various programs throughout the year, organizing programs under the UBUNTU framework
    • Provide mentorship and support to participants and their families 
    • Facilitate group programming and individual follow-up, including regular check-ins with program participants and/or guardians where appropriate
    • Escalate key issues/risks to Manager and ensure timely action to maintain program timelines
    • Administrative Support, including, but not limited to:
      1. Communicate and track programs and projects using virtual tools including Google suite, Zoom, WhatsApp, and CRM system
      2. Managing attendance and enrollment lists, reminder calls, answering phone calls
      3. Provide financial support, including preparing and reviewing requisition and expense reports with supporting documents
      4. Support programs launch and closure, including reports, evaluations, and feedback meetings. 
      5. Allocate and organize work plans and resources efficiently and effective

 2. Community Outreach and Engagement:

  • Lead community outreach initiatives to raise awareness of Empowerment Squared and its programs and activities
  • Implement communication strategy, utilizing social media, newsletters and in-person opportunities to share Empowerment Squared’s mission and vision
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, conferences, and other public forums 
  • Rapport building with participants, partners and community members

3. Volunteer Coordination and Support:

  • Lead volunteer coordination and support throughout the entire volunteer cycle
  • Schedule and coordinate volunteer activities, ensuring adequate coverage and effective use of volunteer resources.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers, addressing any issues or concerns as they arise.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • A university degree or a combination of comparable skills and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in program facilitation 
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working with participants, volunteers, partners, donors in a wide range of capacities.
  • Experience coordinating and monitoring program activities, timelines, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Experience working with community organizations, nonprofit organizations, and/or diverse populations
  • Experience in creating and presenting compelling presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and program management abilities.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data management, analysis, and reporting. 
  • Proficiency in computers, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and CRM systems.
  • Strong solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to problem-solve, adapt and pivot.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity, accountability, honesty, and transparency.
  • Demonstrate a strong team spirit, working cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues and maintaining a positive and encouraging attitude.
  • Proven ability to exercise diplomacy, professionalism and good judgment.
  • Valid driver license and access to a reliable vehicle.
