Provide technical service and product technical support to Coatings Additives distributors, sales and customers, including supporting joint technical visits with sales and distributors to local customers in the US and Canada. Ensure long term business growth by demonstrating technical service competencies and bringing innovation to customers as well as to local distributors. Identify, design and develop technical projects, built over a global base, in order to satisfy the defined market needs. Manage, plan and execute laboratory work for customer projects, application development projects and product development programs to support product and market development strategies to drive the CAD business in the Transportation / Leather / Plastic coatings segment.
Optimize the use of laboratory resources, assigned by the BL CAD and maintain raw material's inventory list, according to project requirements and aligned with ESHQ. Support laboratory safety programs and initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support Global Industry and Market Teams by independently performing a broad range of activities - experiments, tests and laboratory processes and procedures - requiring specialized knowledge of formulating techniques, spray application, and raw material product information to test products in coating formulations supplied by customers or raw material suppliers. This includes supporting development and implementation of strategies and new product developments to gain market penetration of CAD technologies into Transportation / Plastics / Leather coatings segment.
  • Develop, recommend and implement new or revised tests to promote existing and new products and the development of new market areas.
  • Provide technical support to customers by customer visit, telephone and emails. This includes technical visits with field sales force to present products and technology.
  • Prepare presentations, technical reports, summaries and analysis of his/her work.
  • Attend and deliver papers at industry trade shows and conferences.
  • May supervise or train other laboratory personnel in the performance of specialized work. May oversee the activities of other employees assigned to support a specific project (lower level scientists, technicians, interns).
  • Maintains team raw materials list. Writes Safe Work Practices and supports Design Hazard Reviews, Management of Change and other safety documentation as needed.
  • Participate in on-site safety program and activities

REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field with 7+ years of experience in formulating coatings for Transportation/Plastic applications.
  • Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. with 1-2 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 3-4 years of experience relevant coatings/additives experience.
  • Strong coatings formulating experience in relevant coatings field strongly preferred along with strong chemistry background
  • Position requires ability to formulate, make and apply coatings samples in the lab, including by spray techniques.
  • Ability to set goals and work independently in designing and conducting experiments, organizing data and analysis of the results.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency required with emphasis on Excel spreadsheet capabilities and PowerPoint.
  • Possesses effective and convincing verbal and technical writing skills in English language.
  • Proficiency in German language a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally and make technical presentations to customers as needed to proactively support technical sales
