QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER SUMMARY: Checks the designs of civil engineering projects such as streets, culverts, land development, water and sewage treatment, water distribution, sewage collection, and drainage facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews preliminary and final construction plans, and other engineering data received from internal design team members such as Civil Engineers, Engineer Interns, or Project Managers;
  • Apply quality requirements for Residential, Commercial, and Municipal Development according to defined company or city standards. Mark plan deficiencies with redlines and discuss needed plan corrections with the design team.
  • Maintain, review, and revise the standard civil engineering details library, as needed.
  • Assist design team members with sketches and drawings of site-specific details.
  • Establish quality control submittal process.
  • Track, record, and maintain origination and quantity of QC submittals.
  • Document QC concerns for consideration by the civil engineering design staff members.
  • Conduct periodic and random follow-up quality control reviews of previously submitted projects.
  • Write and deliver training and discussion material on quality standards and activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and/or 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software Word Processing software and Bluebeam REVU.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a valid driver license.
