Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the analysis, development, manufacture, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines.We are seeking a LabVIEW Systems Engineer Level 3with experience in LabVIEW, data acquisition, and signal processing to support development of a modular test platform for rotational machinery. You will join the highly talented, motivated, and collaborative Software and Performance Analysis team.

This system will include multi-channel data acquisition, synchronization/timing across high-speed and low-speed signals, and continuous acquisition and processing capabilities. The role will support the transition from a legacy multi-tool environment to a unified LabVIEW-based system. This position is ideal for engineers who:

  • Possess strong hands-on engineer with experience developing modular LabVIEW applications for multi-channel data acquisition, synchronization/timing, continuous acquisition, and signal processing systems.

  • Are comfortable working across LabVIEW, MATLAB, and/or Python, with the ability to implement modules within an established architecture and integrate hardware, software, and external tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain LabVIEW software modules for multi-channel data acquisition, signal processing, and visualization

  • Implement and troubleshoot synchronized data acquisition systems, including timing and coordination across multiple data sources

  • Support development of continuous acquisition systems capable of recording and processing data without interruption

  • Integrate NI hardware (PXI / DAQ ) with LabVIEW applications

  • Implement software functionality based on defined architecture and system requirements

  • Develop analysis, visualization, and diagnostic tools using MATLAB and Python, as needed.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, test, and manufacturing.

  • Contribute to documentation, version control, and modern software development best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 3 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with NI PXI, or similar DAQ hardware

  • Experience with timing and synchronization methods

  • Experience with large channel count systems (50+ channels preferred)

  • Experience developing applications in LabVIEW

  • Experience with continuous data acquisition and streaming

  • Familiarity with signal processing fundamentals (FFT, filtering, frequency-domain analysis)

  • Experience supporting test, manufacturing, or factory acceptance environments

  • Hands-on testing experience with accelerometers and microphones, including data acquisition and signal processing

  • US Citizenship required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for data processing, analysis, and visualization.

  • Experience developing software for data processing and analysis.

  • Strong interest in software development and automation for engineering applications.

  • Familiarity with basic software engineering practices and version control (e.g., SVN, Git)

  • Familiarity with engineering principles behind rotor dynamics, balancing, and acoustic data analysis.

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
