Job Summary/Basic Function
The Multimedia Content & Communications Specialist plays an important role in helping the Office communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff. This position combines creativity, storytelling, and technology to enhance knowledge base articles, develop engaging multimedia content, and support digital communication efforts.
In this role, you will help transform written support materials into clear, visually engaging resources-such as short instructional videos, animations, and social media content-that improve the user experience and make information easier to understand. You may also assist with planning and delivering student-focused communication campaigns.
This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in communications, marketing, media production, instructional design, or information technology to build a professional portfolio and gain hands-on experience creating content with real campus impact.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop multimedia assets to be included in informative articles, social media, and communications campaigns.
Apply graphic design principles to instructional content for better understanding.
Many approaches are applicable to the work, but skills in one or more of the following are highly desired: graphic design, animation, illustration, technical writing, online communication, photography, creative writing, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft 365, or similar.
Work Schedule
Hours will be between 8am - 4:30pm, M - F, up to the maximum hours allowed for student employment.

Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with reviewing, updating, and creating knowledge base articles to ensure accuracy, clarity, and accessibility
  • Translate technical or complex information into easy-to-understand, user-friendly content
  • Enhance articles with visuals such as screenshots, graphics, and embedded media
  • Create short instructional videos to support knowledge articles and campus services
  • Develop simple animations or motion graphics to illustrate key concepts
  • Edit video and audio content using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
  • Assist with drafting and scheduling social media posts to promote IT services, resources, and announcements
  • Adapt content for different platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, campus communication channels)
  • Collaborate with team members to brainstorm creative approaches to messaging and outreach
  • Build a portfolio of professional work demonstrating skills in digital content, multimedia, and communications
