Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is a highly qualified position that plans, designs, arranges, changes, and optimizes a manufacturing process. Manufacturing engineers are creative and analytical thinkers as well as designers. The Manufacturing Engineer maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization determines parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments.
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
  • Collaborate with Controls and Production regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
  • Confer with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material purchase, and evaluate products according to quality standards and specifications.
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
  • Estimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, shop orders, and concepts in accordance with the engineering and quality assurance functions.
  • Provide engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Support company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, FDA regulations, and good manufacturing practices.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (M.E. or I.E.) from an accredited college. Master’s degree in Engineering is an added advantage. 2-5 years of engineering manufacturing experience in an equivalent field, (bottling and/or packaging experience preferred). Associate degrees in M.E.T. or I.E.T. will be considered with relevant experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Possess the ability to creatively solve problems and maintain records.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accurate record keeping and detail orientation is necessary.
  • Understand, follow and support internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 111 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • Lean manufacturing training is a plus.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Experience with motion control (multi-axis robotics) including trouble shooting, programming and integration.
  • Automated assembly experience is required.

GENERAL SKILLS:

  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient on a computer, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to comply with all safety and department regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize per project and business plans.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
