Position Summary:

Lawrence Groupโ€™s St. Louis office is seeking an experienced Intermediate Design Professional with 5-10 years of architectural interior design or architectural design experience in a professional office environment to join our Retail Design Studio. This position will have the opportunity to contribute to diverse architectural projects across our retail market contributing to all phases of project development, from conceptualization to construction administration, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and high-quality design solutions.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Project Coordination: Support project managers in the execution of interior architecture projects across all phases, including planning, design, construction, and close-out. Assist with tracking project objectives and helping ensure alignment with client goals.
  • Scheduling Support: Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules by tracking milestones, deliverables, and deadlines. Help coordinate timelines and resources to support timely progress from design through construction.
  • Budget Tracking: Support budget management by tracking project expenses, assisting with cost control documentation, and monitoring budget updates under the guidance of senior project managers.
  • Contract & Documentation Support: Assist with contract administration by helping maintain project documentation such as contracts, change orders, proposals, and agreements. Ensure filings are accurate, organized, and aligned with company standards.
  • Quality Control Assistance: Support quality control efforts by assisting with document reviews, tracking quality-related items, and participating in site reviews to observe progress and help document issues or follow-ups.
  • Team Support & Coordination: Provide day-to-day support to project teams, including designers and architects, by assisting with task coordination, sharing updates, and helping keep work aligned with project expectations.
  • Client Communication Support: Assist project managers with client communication by preparing meeting materials, documenting meeting notes, and supporting follow-up actions to ensure clear communication and alignment.
  • Risk & Issue Tracking: Help identify, log, and track potential project risks or issues that may impact schedules, budgets, or quality. Assist senior staff with monitoring issue resolution and contingency planning.
  • Administrative & Organizational Tasks: Maintain organized project files, track invoices and reports, prepare agendas and meeting minutes, and support compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design Architecture, Architecture or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 5-10 years of experience in architectural interior design or architectural design, with a portfolio demonstrating involvement in a variety of project types and phases.
  • Basic level of Project Management skills meeting project schedules & deadlines, engineer & consultant coordination, building department correspondence, issuing permit drawing sets and client interaction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software.
  • Strong graphic and visualization skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design ideas through drawings, renderings, and presentations.
  • Solid understanding of architectural principles, building materials, building codes, and construction techniques.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment, with rapid project turnaround and timelines typically measured in weeks rather than months.
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and standards applicable to various project types and locations.
  • Membership in professional organizations related to interior design or architecture (e.g., IIDA or AIA) is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment with hybrid schedule capability. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This position requires no minimum ability to lift, bend or stand.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with typical Monday-Friday work schedule.

Travel
Moderate travel is expected for this position.
