ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Marketing Intern, you will play a key role in supporting Swimming Canada's marketing, communications, and revenue generation initiatives. This hands-on opportunity will allow you to contribute to meaningful projects while gaining valuable experience in a dynamic national sport organization.

Designed to complement post-secondary studies, this internship provides practical exposure to the marketing and communications field, along with opportunities for professional growth, skill development, and mentorship. Through collaborative work and real-world experience, you will build a strong foundation for your future career.

AVAILABILITY

The ideal candidate will be available to begin between October and December 2026. Timelines and schedules are flexible and will be discussed with each candidate.

The ideal candidate will be available to work on a flexible schedule, Monday to Friday, generally between 9am and 4pm.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support on marketing special projects and events.
  • Provide support for the online auction, including reaching out to source items, shipping of items to winners.
  • Assist with creation of invitations, tracking, and logistics for special events.
  • Provide support for Swim-A-Thon activities including reaching out to swim clubs to determine their fundraising needs and educate and support with the Swim-A-Thon platform.
  • Update athlete bios and other website content.
  • Update and organized Swimming Canada photo archive.
  • Support data and file management as needed.
  • All other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program.
  • The internship hours must contribute towards earning academic credits for a specific course as part of the program.


EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks with specific deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when interacting with athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the organization and priorities within the department.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the sport of swimming is desired but not required.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills in English is required. Ability to understand, speak, read and write in French would be an asset.
  • Legally eligible to work/complete an internship in Canada.

WORK LOCATION

This position is based out of the Ottawa office, with the opportunity for remote work.

The Ottawa office is located on the traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishinabek People.


COMPENSATION

An honorarium will be provided following the conclusion of each internship term.

Grace au travail collaboratif et a une experience concrete, vous etablirez des bases solides pour votre future carriere.

DISPONIBILITE

La personne ideale sera disponible pour prendre ses fonctions entre octobre et decembre 2026. Les delais et les horaires sont flexibles et seront discutes avec chaque personne.

La personne ideale sera disponible pour travailler selon un horaire flexible, du lundi au vendredi, generalement entre 9h et 16h.

PRINCIPALES RESPONSABILITES

  • Apporter un soutien dans le cadre de projets et d'evenements speciaux lies au marketing.
  • Apporter un soutien pour l'enchere en ligne, notamment en communiquant avec les fournisseurs pour obtenir des articles et en assurant l'expedition des articles aux gagnants.
  • Participer a la creation des invitations, au suivi et a la logistique des evenements speciaux
  • Apporter un soutien aux activites du Nage-o-thon, notamment en communiquant avec les clubs de natation pour determiner leurs besoins de collecte de fonds, ainsi qu'en les informant et en les accompagnant dans l'utilisation de la plateforme du Nage-o-thon.
  • Mettre a jour les biographies des athletes et d'autres contenus du site web.
  • Mettre a jour et organiser les archives photo de Natation Canada.
  • Assurer la gestion des donnees et des fichiers au besoin.
  • Toute autre tache requise.

EXIGENCES

  • Inscription a un programme d'etudes postsecondaires.
  • Les heures de stage doivent contribuer a l'obtention de credits universitaires pour un cours precis dans le cadre du programme.

CONNAISSANCE, COMPETENCES ET HABILETES

  • Maitrise des logiciels de la suite Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent souci du detail et capacite a respecter les delais.
  • La capacite a travailler de maniere independante sur plusieurs taches ayant des delais precis.
  • De solides aptitudes interpersonnelles et la capacite de travailler en collaboration avec les autres.
  • Faire preuve de professionnalisme dans ses relations avec les athletes, les entraineurs et le personnel.
  • Flexible et adaptable a l'evolution des besoins de l'organisation et des priorites au sein du departement.
  • Une connaissance de base des outils de conception graphique (par exemple, Canva) est un atout.
  • La connaissance du sport de la natation est un avantage, mais n'est pas necessaire.
  • De solides competences verbales et ecrites en anglais sont requises. La capacite de comprendre, de parler, de lire et d'ecrire en francais serait un atout.

LIEU DE TRAVAIL

Ce poste est base au bureau d'Ottawa, avec la possibilite de travailler a distance.
