Job description

Rhode Island FC, a professional soccer club competing in the USL Championship, is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented college interns for the Summer 2026 season. This comprehensive internship program provides invaluable hands-on experience in the Accounting and and Executive Departments. Interns will gain direct exposure to the diverse functions that drive a professional sports organization, contributing to both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
This position is for a seasonal internship, with a projected start date that can be flexible to align with academic calendars.
Educational Experience
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program and eligible to receive college credit.
  • This internship is for college credit only and is limited to no more than 28 hours per week.

Qualifications
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace is required.
  • Currently working towards a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a similar field and prior professional or project experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism (Executive Office).
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, game days, and events as needed is required.

Note: This position is an on-site internship requiring candidates to commute to the Rhode Island Office and Centreville Bank Stadium as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Executive Office:
  • Interfacing with all departments on a project-by-project basis to support executive initiatives.
  • Assisting in preparing presentations, reports, and other materials for the Club President and senior leadership.
  • Conducting research on industry trends, competitor activity, and business opportunities.

Accounting Department:
  • Assisting with vendor reconciliation and accounts payable through invoice processing and document collection.
  • Assisting staff accountants with reimbursements and receipt collection.
  • Tracking expenses for events and RIFC matchdays to identify trends and find areas to manage costs.
  • Managing administrative tasks alongside the finance team as needed.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stretch for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours on event days).
  • Comfortable working in moderate to loud environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment (up to 25 lbs.)
