A growing organization in Providence is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join its collaborative finance team. Core Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant:
  • Maintain and update the general ledger by accurately recording daily financial transactions
  • Process accounts payable activities, including invoice review, approval coordination, and timely vendor payments
  • Manage accounts receivable functions by generating invoices, monitoring incoming payments, and assisting with collections efforts
  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries for accruals, prepaids, and depreciation
  • Support the preparation of financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
  • Organize financial documentation and schedules to support internal and external audit processes
  • Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policies
  • Utilize accounting software and advanced Excel tools to analyze, manage, and maintain financial data integrity

Qualifications of the Junior Accountant:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline required
  • 0–2 years of accounting experience; ideal for recent graduates or entry-level professionals
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial data analysis
  • Solid understanding of GAAP principles and the overall accounting cycle
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or SAP is highly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial staff
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
