Job description

JOB TITLE: Human Resource Generalist Date Prepared: May 2026

LOCATION: Community Health Systems, Inc.

REPORTS TO: Human Resource Direct □or

POSITION SUMMARY

The HR Generalist supports the full spectrum of human resources operations and serves as a trusted resource to employees and supervisors. In conjunction with the HR Director and HR Assistant, this role manages day-to-day HR activities including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, performance management, and benefits administration while ensuring consistent application of organizational policies and employment laws.

The HR Generalist will take the lead in the CHS student internship program.

The HR Generalist exercises independent judgment, provides guidance to leaders, and helps drive HR initiatives that support organizational goals and workforce engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Internship Program

  • Coordinate all student activities within CHS, including internships and shadowing.

  • Work closely with service line directors in student placements.

  • Be the main contact with all schools with student affiliation agreements, ensuring a positive experience for both the student and the school.

  • Maintain compliant, up to date school affiliation agreements.

  • Attend student internship fairs.

Employee Relations

  • Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors on employee issues

  • Conduct workplace investigations and document findings
