Job description

Purpose of Position
The E&B Paving Internship program provides students with full immersion into their assigned business unit, offering hands-on experience in heavy civil construction and paving operations. Interns will participate in a structured progression of job shadowing, supervised tasks, and independent project work. Through direct field exposure, rotational learning opportunities, and a final capstone project, interns build practical industry knowledge while contributing directly to daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Core Operational Support: Actively participate in all phases of the internship experience, moving from direct job shadowing to supervised assignments and independent work within the designated business unit.
  • Cross-Functional Field Visits: Attend scheduled rotational field trips across various facilities, job sites, and plants to gain a comprehensive understanding of E&B Paving's broader operations and business model.
  • Continuous Improvement Capstone Project: Identify, research, and develop a business improvement proposal focused on operational efficiency, safety, or process innovation. Present final findings and recommendations to a panel of company executives and leadership.
  • Punctuality & Site Reliability: Report consistently and on time to assigned regional work locations, field offices, or job sites.
  • Cross-Crew Collaboration: Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, field crews, and safety personnel to maximize daily learning and project contribution.

Requirements
  • Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary degree program (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Business, or a related field).
  • Academic Standing: Completion of sophomore year of college (or equivalent) with at least one full year of coursework specific to declared major.
  • Licensing & Transportation: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable personal transportation to travel to assigned work locations and field sites.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with standard digital tools; experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or Microsoft Office Suite is preferred. Additional technical software knowledge relative to the assigned business unit is a plus.
  • Work Ethic & Professionalism: Strong commitment to daily attendance, active participation, personal safety, and professional development throughout the duration of the internship.

Compensation & Schedule:
Competitive hourly wage dependent on academic standing and qualifications. Schedule and duration align with the assigned academic term or business unit needs.
