Job description

Post Doc Research Associate
City: West Lafayette
Job Description:
Job Summary
CALC Postdoctoral Research Associate
Start date: August 17, 2026
This position is conditional on final 2026-2027 budget.
The Center on Aging and the Life Course (CALC) at Purdue University (https://www.purdue.edu/aging/) is currently accepting applications for a one-year (renewable) research associate (postdoctoral) position. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join CALC and make valuable contributions to ongoing funded research projects while also developing their own research agenda.
We are seeking a highly motivated scholar who is eager to engage in interdisciplinary research on aging. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background and a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as sociology, gerontology, demography, human development, sociomedical sciences, epidemiology, or public health by the starting date of the position. While candidates with expertise in any aging-related field are encouraged to apply, we are particularly interested in individuals with specializations in areas such as cognitive aging, biodemography of aging, or other related fields. The anticipated start date for the fellowship is either in the fall of 2026 or January 2027, although a later start date can be considered. For inquiries, please contact Dr. Hui (Cathy) Liu at liu3839@purdue.edu.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced researchers under the supervision of Dr. Hui (Cathy) Liu. The candidate will also be encouraged to pursue their own research interests and develop new research projects within the realm of aging and the life course. This postdoctoral position offers a stimulating research environment, access to extensive datasets, and the chance to collaborate with scholars from various disciplines.
The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. In addition to a competitive salary, the postdoctoral research associate will receive office space, access to necessary research resources, and support for conference travel and professional development.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit their application materials online through the Purdue University career website (https://careers.purdue.edu/). The application should include: (1) a letter of application outlining research interests and goals, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a writing sample, and (4) contact information for three references who can provide letters of recommendation.
CALC is a vibrant research center at Purdue University that aims to advance knowledge about aging and promote the well-being of older adults. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and a life course perspective, CALC strives to optimize the aging experience for diverse populations.
