We are a diverse team that develops and tests bonding systems on automotive glass and performs failure analysis on the same systems. This internship involves preparing and testing samples, primarily in these areas. In addition, the intern will have a project, chosen based on company needs and intern interests, that they will be responsible for planning and executing, with our support.

Primary duties include:

  • Assist with R&D experiments as needed, primarily related to bonding systems
  • Assemble, condition, and test laboratory samples
  • Collate data and write lab reports
  • Participate in large scale experiments (DOEs, etc.) within R&D and validation
  • Keep a detailed lab notebook of all testing performed
  • Enter data into appropriate data systems in a timely fashion
  • Plan and execute intern project
  • Maintain clean, organized lab spaces and assist with sample disposal
  • Log in and dispose of chemicals in accordance with HSE policies
  • Assist with health and safety initiatives, with direction
  • Assist with recycling program and other environmental initiatives as needed

Qualifications required include:

  • Pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, material science, or chemistry
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office 365
  • Self-motivated, flexible individual willing to switch priorities and maintain background tasks between more urgent projects
  • Good observation, organizational and note-taking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with engineering math and basic statistics, or willing and able to learn

Qualifications desired include:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or natural science
  • Interest in chemistry and structure of surfaces
