Job Description


The Membership Sales Representative is responsible for generating new memberships, converting leads into members, and driving revenue growth across all club programs. This role owns the complete sales process—from prospecting and lead generation through membership enrollment and member onboarding—while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, consistent follow-up, confidence in asking for the sale, and the ability to create new opportunities through both inbound and outbound sales efforts.

Candidates with prior fitness club or membership-based sales experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Core Role Expectations

1. Full Sales Cycle Management

  • Manage the complete membership sales process from initial inquiry through enrollment.
  • Respond promptly to all assigned leads via phone, text, email, and other communication channels.
  • Maintain an organized pipeline of prospects, including walk-ins, web leads, referrals, and past inquiries.
  • Conduct engaging, personalized club tours based on each prospect's interests and goals.
  • Clearly communicate membership options, pricing, promotions, and program offerings.
  • Effectively identify member needs, overcome objections, and confidently ask for the sale.
  • Execute structured follow-up with prospective members to maximize conversion opportunities.
  • Re-engage inactive or previous prospects to generate additional membership sales.
  • Follow established sales processes, scripts, response-time expectations, and CRM procedures.
  • Accurately document all prospect interactions and sales activity within the club's CRM.

2. Lead Generation & Community Outreach

  • Generate new membership opportunities through community networking and relationship building.
  • Represent the club at local events, health fairs, community activities, and promotional opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with local businesses, schools, organizations, and employers to create corporate membership opportunities and referral partnerships.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective corporate partners and community organizations to increase club visibility.
  • Generate referrals from current members, guests, and community contacts.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team on promotions and lead-generation initiatives.

3. Program & Ancillary Sales


Promote and sell:
  • Club Memberships
  • Swim Lessons and Aquatics Programs
  • Racquetball Leagues and Clinics
  • Personal Training
  • Camps and Seasonal Programs

Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities to bundle memberships with club programs and services.
  • Recommend additional services that align with each member's goals and interests.
  • Support overall club revenue growth through cross-selling and upselling.

4. Member & In-Club Engagement

  • Provide a welcoming, professional experience for prospective and new members.
  • Ensure new members receive a smooth onboarding experience and understand their membership benefits.
  • Coordinate successful handoffs to department leaders and program staff.
  • Encourage member participation in club programs, events, and activities.
  • Support club events, promotions, and member appreciation initiatives that strengthen retention and community engagement.
  • Build lasting relationships that encourage referrals, renewals, and long-term membership satisfaction.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to confidently present, recommend, and close sales.
  • Excellent organizational skills with consistent follow-up and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working toward daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and peak club hours as needed.

Preferred Experience (Strongly Valued)

  • Prior sales experience in membership sales, retail, hospitality, or service-based sales.
  • Experience working in a fitness club, gym, aquatics facility, or wellness environment.
  • Background in fitness, personal training, swim instruction, or recreational programming.
  • Experience working with families, youth programs, or community-based services.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics.
