Job description

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an entry-level to experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility in Lafayette, IN.

Electrical Test Engineer

Electrical Test Engineer will support the development of advanced data acquisition and electrical test systems used in product validation and testing environments. This role will support projects focused on electric power, transportation, and mining-related applications by building and supporting high-quality electrical test solutions in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, wire, troubleshoot, and support electrical data acquisition and test systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics and translate designs into complete wiring harnesses and test assemblies
  • Perform hands-on electrical work including wiring, soldering, multimeter usage, and mechanical assembly
  • Support testing activities in a laboratory environment for product validation and development programs
  • Work with CAN J1939, CAN CCP, and serial communication systems during testing and integration activities
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support product quality, reliability, and testing objectives
  • Assist with setup, maintenance, and continuous improvement of testing equipment and processes
  • Participate in daily team collaboration and training activities
  • Progressively take ownership of larger engineering projects and assignments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Internship experience may qualify toward experience requirements if focused on electrical engineering applications
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Electrical wiring and soldering
    • Multimeter usage and electrical troubleshooting
    • Mechanical and electrical assembly tools
    • Electrical schematic interpretation
    • Wiring harness fabrication and kit builds
    • CAN J1939, CAN CCP, or serial communication systems
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in laboratory or product testing environments
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and product validation testing
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced engineering environment

Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000 Commensurate with Experience
