 Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician
Career Opportunity
 Louisville, KY
Norton Childrens Development Center, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and a part of Norton Childrens Medical Group, provides diagnostic services and medical care for children with developmental disorders. In 2024, nearly 6,000 children and teens with various developmental conditions were seen at the center. The team is composed of two developmental-behavioral pediatricians, five pediatric psychologists, one advanced practice registered nurse, two speech-language pathologists, one occupational therapist, one dietitian and one licensed clinical social worker who collaborate to deliver evidence-based, family-centered, community-responsive diagnostic and therapeutic services to children with complex developmental needs. The team also works closely with other specialists from the University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Division of Genetics and Norton Childrens Autism Center to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary care for children with genetic syndromes and autism spectrum disorder.

Our mission is to serve children with neurodevelopmental conditions and the families who care for them with compassionate, evidence-based and coordinated care at the center. As part of Norton Children's commitment, we support vulnerable families by ensuring accurate diagnoses, timely interventions and therapies that promote lifelong development. We are dedicated to building collaborative systems of support, educating families and future providers, and creating an environment where clinical excellence and compassion fuel positive growth. 

 
About the Position
The selected candidate will join two developmental-behavioral pediatricians and one advanced practice provider in evaluating children with various developmental conditions, such as global developmental delay, intellectual developmental disorder, autism spectrum disorder, complex attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, in-utero drug exposure, fetal alcohol syndrome, behavioral issues associated with chronic illnesses and prematurity, and feeding disorder of oral-sensorimotor or behavioral origin.
  • Board-certified/board-eligible developmental-behavioral pediatrician
  • Experience in psychopharmacology and medication management of complex cases preferred but not necessary
  • Academic faculty position in the UofL School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics with teaching responsibilities for medical students, pediatric residents, developmental-behavioral fellows, psychology interns and other trainees
  • Multidisciplinary setting with subspecialty support
  • Resources and opportunities for research through Norton Childrens Research Institute, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine
  • Salary and academic rank to be commensurate with experience
  • Average 50-hour workweek, including academic appointment, in an outpatient setting
