Job description

Job Overview

Join our team at the Marvin Composites plant in Fargo, ND as a Tool and Die Intern. At Marvin Composites, we manufacture composite fiberglass window frame materials, renowned for quality and innovation.

In this Tool and Die internship, you'll get hands-on experience with our CNC machines, wire EDM's and CNC surface grinders, in a learning environment with our Tool and Die makers and see how to make pultrusion and extrusion tooling. Your initiative will help you operate CNC machines while building custom tooling. As you work with our Tool and die makers and innovative processes and custom work on our CNC equipment, you'll directly contribute to tooling that makes a real impact on production.

This is a paid internship. It is full-time during the summer and part-time with a flexible schedule during the school year. We're looking for candidates available to work year-round, balancing their academic schedules and professional growth.

Highlights of your role
  • Participate making pultrusion and extrusion tooling designed for and by Marvin Composites for production use
  • Acquire practical experience in programming and setups on a variety of VMC machining centers which include Hurco, Mazak, Mori Seki, Agie
  • Learn how to work with tool steel and stainless steel along with other materials
  • You will get to learn how to set up and hard mill die mold tool steel and our finishing process
  • Learn how to heat treat tool steel and other steel materials
  • Learn the basics of CNC grinding as well as operating manual grinders
  • Learn to use inspection and gauging equipment for part setups and final inspection
  • Gain hands-on experience with our Senior Tool Makers to gain practical skills for a career in tool and die making
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Able to read and write machine code
  • Machine and program troubleshooting
  • Experience with reading blueprints
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
Also want to make sure you have
  • Pursuing a technical degree in Precision Machining, or a related machining field
