Our customer is a dynamic cooperative based in Salisbury, MD. Our mission is to transform Maryland's digital landscape by ensuring accessible and reliable broadband connectivity for all. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Splicer to assist with growing AWS network expansion, maintenance, and clean up. We are hiring an experienced Fiber Splicer to support large-scale AWS data center and backbone fiber network projects. This role focuses on existing backbone cleanup and network expansion across the Eastern Shore. This is a high-visibility opportunity supporting critical infrastructure with strong long-term growth potential.

The Fiber Splicer will work directly with the fiber team to conduct OSP and ISP fiber splicing and must be able to single/ribbon splice (rollable ribbon), 24 strand up to 864 count, EXFO/OTDR testing, SC/UPC and high density LC panels, dB loss standards (AWS.1-.2), mass fusion splicing (sumitomo/fujikura), experience with commscope 450D cases, etc.

Must have clean/valid drivers license for take home company splice rig van (gas card included). Candidates may drive straight to site or to office whatever makes most sense and be located close to Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, Centreville, Glen Burnie, etc. Candidates should be open to travel to Eastern shore (Berlin-Harry Nice Bridge Corridor), office located in Salisbury, MD and provide service to most of the state.

- Proven fiber splicing experience (OSP and/or ISP)

- Experience with single fiber + ribbon splicing

- Strong troubleshooting and testing skills (OTDR)

- Ability to meet strict loss and performance standards

- Comfortable working in field environments and independently

Preferred

- Experience supporting data center or AWS-related builds

- Familiarity with high fiber count networks (432/864)

- Exposure to Vetro mapping or GIS tools

- Experience with aerial fiber (no bucket truck required/lashing; hand work)

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Perform OSP/ISP fiber splicing across aerial and underground networks

Complete single fiber and ribbon splicing

- Work with: 24-strand up to high-count fiber (432 / 864 count)

- Ribbon (rollable ribbon: 200–250 micron)

- Conduct OTDR testing (EXFO) and ensure low-loss splices

- Maintain splice quality standards:

- Target DB loss: ~0.1–0.2

- AWS/DOT requirements (e.g., 3 attempts, strict latency thresholds)

Handle field equipment:

- Tune/calibrate splice machines

- Maintain splice van and tools

Connector work:

- SC/UPC

- High-density LC panels for hub sites

Occasional “housekeeping”/office days for equipment upkeep

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
