Michigan Location: Fraser
Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) equipped with the latest and most advanced technology in ophthalmic surgery. Its capabilities include retina surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, refractive surgery and oculoplastic surgery. This 10,000 square foot, state of the art facility, offers a full staff of specialty trained Nurses (RNs), certified technicians and Board-Certified Anesthesiologists. With specialized operating rooms (ORs), laser procedure rooms and comfortable preoperative and post-operative areas, Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center provides quality care in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Position Summary
Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center has a rewarding opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our team. The Registered Nurse will assist in the organization and daily function of the operating room in accordance with established federal, state and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures. Our Registered Nurses assist in overseeing patient care activities in the operating room and maintain a high standard of safety.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate appropriate nursing management and intervention in the perioperative period
  • Perform preoperative patient assessment, review surgeon preferences, assess equipment/supply needs, prepare operating room, ensure availability of needed supplies and equipment and proper and safe working order
  • Provide appropriate patient care
  • Perform surgical prep per standard of care and surgeon preference
  • Demonstrate appropriate protocol for safe use and handling of equipment
  • Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies based on surgeon preference
  • Handle and document specimens per policy
  • Assure emergency equipment and supplies are available at all times
  • Keep surgical suites clean, tidy, free of soiled equipment and supplies, and properly stocked
  • Participate in medical records QAPI
  • Demonstrate a willingness to look at new ideas and work in a changing environment
  • Understand, verbalize and participate in the quality improvement process
  • Maintain active professional relationships with physicians and patients by assessing needs and levels of satisfaction with facility services
Requirements
  • Active RN License
  • BLS Certified
  • Two (2) years of experience as an ambulatory surgery center or operating room nurse
  • 1-year surgical scrub experience required.
  • Compute knowledge including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, surgeons and staff.
