Job description

POSITION:                             JOB COACH 2026 - STRIDES Internship Sessions
                                               Extended School Year Program
DATES/HOURS:                    Program runs - August 4, 5, 11 and 12 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Location:                               Lesser Evil, Danbury, CT
DUTIES: 






  • Report to the Special Education Teacher and Special Education Department Head
  • Support and supervise students (18 to 22 years old) individually and/or in small groups in the classroom and community vocational worksites
  • Under the direction of the Special Education Teacher, support student daily functional living skills as well as implement individual transition action plans in a variety of community based settings
  • Teach and continually evaluate student skills and abilities at worksites and assist with appropriate learning strategies when necessary
  • Consistently work to improve student independence
  • Maintain progress notes and assess level of performance both in the community, worksite, and/or classroom
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times 

 
QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • College degree in education, psychology, human services, or related field preferred
  • In lieu of degree, minimum of three years of related experience working in special education, vocational or life skills program or directly with individuals with intellectual or other disabilities is required
  • Valid CT driver's license
  • Must be able to work harmoniously with others to encourage and enhance student performance and the team process

 
SALARY:                               $24.66 Per Hour
