JOB SUMMARY:

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Intern supports the technical execution of EHS programs within a large-scale theme park by assisting with hazard identification, safety observations, inspections, and compliance-based assessments across attractions, maintenance shops, food service, utilities, and outdoor operations. The role emphasizes applied technical learning, including exposure to OSHA regulations, nationally and internationally recognized standards, industrial hygiene basics, environmental compliance requirements, fire and life safety principles, and risk control methodologies specific to amusement park operations. The intern collects and analyzes safety and environmental data, supports incident reporting and basic root cause analysis, assists with corrective action tracking, and participates in environmental programs such as waste management, spill prevention, and sustainability initiatives. Through hands-on involvement, the intern develops practical skills in documentation, auditing, technical communication, and the application of regulatory and corporate EHS standards to real-world operational challenges in a high-risk, guest-facing environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct environmental monitoring activities, including water sampling, data analysis, and interpretation of results.
  • Manage chemical inventories and approval processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Perform environmental inspections covering waste management, SPCC systems, NPDES erosion and sediment controls, and related regulatory programs.
  • Evaluate waste programs and develop data driven waste minimization and sustainability recommendations.
  • Support integrated response plan reviews, risk assessments, and hazard evaluations using established EHS methodologies.
  • Apply knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and UDX EHS standards to support compliant and safe operations across assigned business areas.
  • Analyze EHS data, investigate issues, support corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement strategies and program enhancements.
  • Provide technical EHS guidance to operational partners, facilitate cross functional collaboration, and promote proactive safety and environmental accountability.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite required.
  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. 
  • A transcript is required upon application.
PREFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Preferred majors include: Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering
  • Proficiency with Environmental and Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment, or similar laboratory/technical equipment preferred.
  • Relevant Environmental, Health and Safety degree, coursework, or certificate seeking student highly preferred.

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2027.
  • Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
