Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Material Handler As a Material Handler you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
  • Loads, unloads and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations
  • Operates a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments
  • Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage
  • Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed
  • Perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues
  • Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities
  • Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials
  • Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites
  • Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks
  • Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials
  • Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition
  • Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations
  • Utilizes Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers
  • Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education

- High-school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience
  • 1+ years of related experience (required)
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred)

Pay Range

A reasonable estimate of the starting base salary range for this role is $20/hour. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in an annual bonus plan based on company performance.
