Job description

Experienced electrical engineer to work alongside our growing engineering and scientific team in its RTP area office. This person will support a broad set of development objectives various customers. This person will integrate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to design and develop electronic circuits and systems for non-invasive medical devices.

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional looking to apply their skills to deliver miniaturized biomedical sensing systems.
Design, develop, and test analog and mixed-signal electronics for medical physiological sensors, including EEG, ECG, and biophotonics-based systems.
Conduct/participate in design reviews and present results of formal analysis.
Work with PCB fabricators and assemblers to supply finished electronics.
Analyze and troubleshoot complex electrical issues related to optoelectronic and electrical sensing systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Support test fixture design to both accelerate and improve the fidelity of prototype PCB evaluation.
Support regulatory efforts for system market approvals through both 510(k) clearances and de novo classifications through medical design documentation.
Report to the Electrical Engineering R&D Manager.
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
Eight or more years industry experience in design for wearable monitoring systems, medical devices or similarly regulated industry.
Demonstrated ability to investigate and solve complex problems using current and new technologies.
Hands-on experience with design and integration of electrical components of wearable systems such as PCBs, PCB components, batteries, and light-emitting and detecting systems.
Proficiency in PCB design using Altium Designer, including rigid, flex, and rigid-flex designs.
Expertise in mixed-signal circuit design, including signal generators, amplifiers, filters, ADCs, and data acquisition systems.
Expertise in circuit and electronic system bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of biosensing and electrical stimulation technologies and proficiency in hardware implementations of these technologies.
Expertise in integration with mechanical housings.
Familiarity with C/C++ and embedded systems integration with Nordic microcontrollers or similar Bluetooth microcontrollers a plus.
Prior experience working with startups is a plus.
