Department: Professional Development Reports To: Senior Manager of Learning and TechnologyFLSA Status: โExempt (salaried) Effective Date May 2026 Prepared By Senior Director of Education & Professional Development Summary This position supports the department Senior Manager of Learning Operations and Technology with the day-to-day operations of AANAโs professional development programs, including online education, micro-credentialing, educational technology and instructional design. The Educational Technology Specialist provides instructional design, administrative, and programmatic support for continuing education (CE) activities, conferences, and workshops, ensuring programs are executed efficiently and in compliance with accreditation and AANA standards. Job Location This position is considered Hybrid with an expectation to be in the Rosemont, IL office 1 time a month for All Staff Meetings, trainings, and department meetings.* Major Duties & Responsibilities Instructional Design Percentage 60% Designs high level course materials with advanced scenarios and teaching methodsCreates new tools and featuresIncorporates forward thinking education design and principlesAligns education strategy with AANA mission and board prioritiesEnsures accreditation compliance, and educational integrityCoordinates pilots, beta groups, and learner testingManages innovation timelines and logisticsLMS/LXP strategy and operationsProgram delivery and logisticsPartner/sponsorship alignment online contentMicro credential project managementLeads instructional design standardsOversees immersive online/digital learning (simulation, serious games)Partners with and supports SMEs on high-impact experiencesDesigns online courses, microlearning, and assessmentsApplies adult learning science and UX principles Program Coordination and Support Percentage 10% Support the day-to-day operations of Professional Development online education, micro-credentialing, conferences, and workshops.Coordinate logistics for continuing education activities, including faculty support, registration coordination, onsite logistics, and serving as staff liaison at assigned programs.Maintain project plans and timelines for educational activities to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met.Attend assigned meetings and educational programs as staff liaison; travel up to 3โ4 times per year as required.Helps oversee logistics and program support for Professional Developmentโs continuing online education content: handling presenter, faculty, and subject matter experts' needs, assembling and maintaining content program, coordinating registration, processing continuing education (CE) applications and evaluations, prepare logistics with contributors.Coordinates online professional development programming, acting as staff liaison for online learning materials with subject matter experts, design, and technology needs. Online Education and LMS Administration Percentage 10% Assist in, organize, and maintain course content within the Learning Management System (LMS).Assist with course setup, testing, updates, and maintenance under the direction of the Senior Manager.Assist with CE applications, evaluations, and credit tracking within the LMS. Maintains project timelines for educational activities and manages project plans to meet deadlines and ensure successful programs.Actively participants in creating new continuing education content by supplying ideas, content and design for new offeringsCompiling necessary accreditation materials for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) reporting and tracking continuing education (CE) documentation.Produces and distributes post-course surveys to users as needed.Assists in budgeting for program needs.Remains current with latest professional development/CE programs to further drive success of the department and industry.Ability to travel 3-4 times yearly to assigned meetings. Faculty Coordination Percentage 10% Serve as a point of contact for faculty and presenters regarding educational materials, deadlines, and technical requirements.Collect, track, and organize presentation materials and supporting resources.Provide guidance to speakers on presentation standards, branding, accessibility, and formatting requirements.Coordinate content reviews and revisions to ensure accuracy and consistency. Evaluation, Reporting, Documentation, and Compliance Percentage 10% Develop, compile, and analyze course and program evaluation reports to assess effectiveness and learner outcomes.Produce and distribute post-course and post-event surveys as needed.Compile and maintain documentation required for continuing education activities, including ANCC reporting and CE records.Maintain organized content repositories, version control, and file management for educational materials.Review educational materials for accuracy, formatting, accessibility, and adherence to AANA branding and style guidelines.Ensure materials align with learning objectives, CE requirements, and accreditation standards.Assist with maintaining compliance with ANCC and AANA continuing education policies and procedures. Experience & Skills Experience Experience working in professional development (or equivalent education program) with an association or similar environment (e.g., volunteer-dependent) is preferred.Proficient with Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).Database/Association Management Software/member management software experience preferred (Aptify, Nimble, IMIS, Personify).Learning management system experience preferred. Advanced experience with content development and using Articulateยฎ course authoring software (or similar programs) and web conferencing tools.Advanced instructional design skills to create high functioning, interactive content.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work independently when required.Polished verbal and written communications skills; strong presentation skills when needed. Adapt quickly to a constantly changing environment.ANCC or ACCME knowledge a plus. Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective participation in working groups and internal functions.Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Proficient in multiple instructional design softwares including Articulate Education/Certifications/Licenses Bachelorโs degree or equivalent amount of training, education and experience.Instructional design experience preferred.Meetings experience preferred. ADA Requirements Physical Requirements: Performs primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
