Job description

Job Details:Job Description: 

As a Software Technician at Intel, you will play a pivotal role in sustaining and improving the reliability of systems that enable factory floor, laboratory, and datacenter operations. You will execute OS patching, OS upgrades, and defined OS procedures while also editing, modifying, and/or debugging software products in accordance with established software test plans and procedures. This role contributes directly to system availability, controlled change execution, and product quality in a secure environment. You will work on semi-routine assignments within generally defined parameters and utilize judgment to resolve nonstandard problems, acting on general instructions received in work assignments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Execute software patching, OS upgrades, and OS procedures by following defined playbooks (pre-checks, implementation, validation, and post-checks).
  • Edit, modify, and/or debug software products in alignment with software test plans and procedures; reproduce issues and capture clear technical evidence (logs, error codes, system state).
  • Support datacenter operations and associated equipment/systems, ensuring changes are implemented with minimal operational impact and in accordance with change control.
  • Provide on-site support across factory floor, lab, and datacenter environments for systems impacted by patching/upgrades or software changes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve nonstandard problems using structured debugging methods; escalate effectively with complete artifacts and steps taken.
  • Maintain disciplined documentation: change records, work notes, test evidence, outage/maintenance reports, and shift handoffs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, operations, infrastructure teams) to coordinate maintenance windows, validate outcomes, and improve procedures.

Qualifications:

The Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Minimum qualifications listed below would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experience and / or schoolwork/classes/research. The preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government TS Security Clearance and SCI access.
  • High School diploma required, with 6+ years of relevant or military experience
  • Proficiency in editing, debugging, and modifying software in accordance with test procedures.
  • Familiarity with software testing methodologies and tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform OS patching/upgrades and sustainment support for datacenter and operational systems, following defined procedures and validation steps.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active US Government TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Associate degree or higher with relevant experience.
