Job description

Resolution Think is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine Physician to provide general IM care to patients in support of military medical operations at Nellis Air Force Base. The physician will provide care in an outpatient setting. Patient population may include active duty and veterans.
Location: Nellis AFB / MOMMC
Schedule and Coverage
  • Monday-Friday between the hours of 0700-1700
  • On-Call: None
  • Overage Hours: Overage hours are only available for continuity of care requirements or emergencies. Not to exceed 600 hours annually.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide full spectrum Internal Medicine care encompassing outpatient clinical and procedural services. This will be provided in a cost-effective manner that focuses on patient-centered evidence-based outcomes.
  • The General Internal Medicine Physician will collaborate with staff and other clinical departments within and outside the MTF to facilitate excellent patient care and will be expected to participate fully as a member of the 99 MDG medical staff.
  • The General Internal Medicine Physician will have sufficient experience to be able to adequately diagnose and treat diseases/injuries to include but not limited to; Cardiovascular diseases (congestive heart failure, hypertension, arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction), respiratory diseases (asthma, bronchitis, pulmonary thromboembolism, pulmonary insufficiency & adult respiratory distress syndrome), gastrointestinal diseases (peptic ulcer, gastritis, pancreatitis, cirrhosis & alcoholic liver), endocrinology (disease of the thyroid & diabetes mellitus), rheumatology (sarcoidosis, degenerative joint disease), renal disease (acute renal failure, urinary tract infection), neurology (epilepsy & cerebrovascular disease) and infectious diseases (infectious diarrheas, bacterial infections, hospital-acquired infections, tuberculosis, infections of the compromised host & other micro-bacterial infections).
  • Participate in telehealth and virtual encounters as well as respond to telephone consults and secure messages
  • Shall adhere to the policies of Defense Health Agency and the MTF in meeting or exceeding established standards for access, Preventive Health Assessment Individual Medical Record (PIMR) and HEDIS measures.
  • Shall coordinate patient care with community health agencies and social programs.
  • Shall possess sufficient knowledge of current TRICARE standards, population-based health care, disease management, medically oriented computer systems, and trends in prevention.
  • Possess basic knowledge of emergency procedures in order to react promptly and appropriately to provide effective care during emergency situations
  • Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, and military commanders as required.
  • Follow formulary for prescriptions. Drugs not appearing on the formulary must be pre- approved by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established MTF standards
  • Complete medical records documentation within 72 hours of patient encounter
  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership and expertise, managing patient care and coordinating additional subspecialty referrals, answering patient telephone consults, and refilling prescriptions.
  • May be asked to participate in committees, programs or clinical services directly related to area of clinical responsibility or privileges.
  • Provide instruction, coaching, mentoring, and training for medical residents, physician assistant students, medical students and/or students of other health care disciplines in the form of clinical rotations, didactics and outpatient discussions as appropriate.
  • Participate in educational activities to include giving lectures, supervision of internal medicine residents and physician assistant students in clinic duties, teaching residents on internal medicine services.
  • Participate in formal educational lectures (approximately 6 per year)

Qualifications:
  • Degree/Education: Must be a graduate of: an accredited medical school and completed an Accreditation Council for Medical Education (ACGME), Accredited Internal Medicine residency, OR an accredited osteopathic medicine school and completed an American Osteopathic Association (AOA)/American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). Residency in Internal Medicine is acceptable to the Surgeon General, HQ USAF is mandatory within the last thirty (30) years.
  • Experience: The General Internal Medicine Physician shall have been actively employed in the practice of Internal Medicine or in training for 24 of the last 36 months. Must also have sufficient experience within the past 24 months in adequately performing the following medical procedures, to include, but not limited to:
    • Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation
    • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program, which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing clinically direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training)
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification are required.
    • Certifications must be through American Red Cross guidelines or American Heart Association.
  • Board Certification: The Board-Certified Internal Medicine Physician must have certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. This must always remain current.
  • Licensure: Permanent, full, and unrestricted Medical License to practice medicine in the state of Nevada.
