Job description

The Research & Development Manager, Polymer-based Construction Products role builds R&D competency in chemistry, engineering and materials science with an emphasis on the development of high-performance polymer-based building and construction products. The successful candidate will lead our efforts to grow our market-leading product portfolio comprising primers, coatings, waterproof membranes, moisture vapor barriers, sealants, and adhesives.
The ideal candidate will have formal training and experience in polymer chemistry, formulation of 1K and 2K products, process development, advanced materials or related technical areas. The successful candidate will be highly creative, driven to successfully develop new products, lead strong teams and have great project management skills. This role will lead a team working to develop new and improved products.
Desired Experience and Competencies:
  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in materials science, engineering, or chemistry or equivalent experience.
  • Experience connecting customer needs to product formulation.
  • Analytical and physical testing experience characterizing polymer systems.
  • Experience in construction industry practices.
  • Product development expertise and track record (5-15 years' experience), using standard project management processes.
  • A talent for solving problems using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions.
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people in multifunctional teams.
  • Experience managing people with multiple, detailed projects simultaneously.
  • Experience planning and organizing work to meet deadlines, and teaching others these skills.
  • Self-starting with a drive to overachieve.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
