Job description

PROCESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Process Development Engineer will drive process optimization and product development. This role focuses on improving molding techniques, troubleshooting, and enhancing tooling and product quality.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Interface and maintain strong relationships with internal Sales and Program Management including external Customersโ€™ Engineering Departments, and key supplier personnel that align with both existing and new manufacturing processes.


  1. Assist in investigating new technologies, submitting well-researched and viable proposals to management for funding and further development.


  1. Utilize CAD software and equipment to perform engineering design tasks, ensuring that products meet specifications and design standards.


  1. Work closely with R&D and other divisions to resolve technical problems, obtain additional information, and support design development.


  1. Provide technical problem-solving support to divisions by utilizing design experiments and sound engineering principles to help optimize the full manufacturing process.


  1. Coordinate equipment, materials, and supplies needed for project assignments. Ensure smooth workflow and assist as necessary to guide personnel through the production process.


  1. Initiate purchase requisitions, expedite orders for timely delivery, and maintain necessary records.


  1. Maintain engineering process, product, and project records. Produce and distribute necessary reports to ensure clear communication within the team and across departments.


  1. Introduce new parts and processes into production, working with Process Technicians and Production Supervisors to transition new programs into mass production operations.


  1. Develop and refine process parameters and techniques for all molding and auxiliary processes to meet cost control requirements. Troubleshoot processes to improve quality, reduce cost, and ensure product consistency.


  1. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations, ensuring work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition to promote a safe and efficient environment.



Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience in process development, troubleshooting, and optimization in all molding operations.
  2. Hands-on experience developing and optimizing Liquid Injection Molding (LIM) / Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) manufacturing processes required.
  3. Experience with silicone molding, tooling development, scientific molding techniques, and process validation strongly preferred.
  4. Experience in product feasibility analysis to determine product viability.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with technical teams, customers, and external vendors.
  6. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  7. Proficiency in CAD software for engineering and design tasks.
  8. Expert knowledge with troubleshooting tooling, material development, and molding processes.


Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, with 10 years of transferable experience, including prior experience in a similar role supporting and managing the growth of manufacturing technology.
  2. Familiarity with ERP systems and industry-specific software tools.
