Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a Disaster Recovery Analyst to design, implement, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity strategies that protect critical business systems, applications, and data. This role is responsible for developing recovery plans, conducting risk assessments and Business Impact Analyses (BIA), coordinating disaster recovery testing, and partnering with infrastructure, application, and business teams to ensure organizational resilience. The Disaster Recovery Analyst will play a key role in minimizing operational disruptions caused by natural disasters, cyber incidents, system failures, or other adverse events.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and coordinate disaster recovery and business continuity plans for critical applications and business functions.
• Plan, organize, and execute disaster recovery testing activities, including on-site recovery exercises and validation of recovery procedures.
• Conduct Business Impact Analyses (BIA) to determine business-critical systems, recovery objectives, and operational dependencies.
• Identify, assess, and document gaps in existing disaster recovery plans using established risk management frameworks.
• Perform risk and vulnerability assessments and recommend strategies to reduce operational risk and improve recovery capabilities.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, operations, and business teams to identify dependencies and strengthen recovery preparedness.
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on disaster recovery initiatives, proof-of-concept projects, and technology evaluations.
• Provide guidance to architecture, engineering, and technology teams on designing resilient and recoverable solutions.
• Facilitate technical workshops, planning sessions, and cross-functional meetings focused on disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
• Lead efforts to develop, document, standardize, and maintain recovery procedures, policies, and supporting documentation.
• Analyze critical business functions and define the scope and impact of potential disaster scenarios.
• Develop and deliver business continuity and disaster recovery training and awareness programs.
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify continuity scenarios, recovery strategies, and operational contingencies.
• Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business partners for new application onboarding, system enhancements, and recovery strategy updates.
• Support the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise technology solutions.
• Lead projects related to the acquisition, development, implementation, and enhancement of disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; OR 5-10 years of experience in Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and executive audiences.
• Experience managing projects and coordinating cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
• Broad understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, networks, cloud technologies, and operational support functions.
• Knowledge of Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Experience conducting Business Impact Analyses (BIA), risk assessments, and recovery testing exercises.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple initiatives and priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs), IT Service Management (ITSM), and workflow/ticketing platforms.
• Understanding of IT Change Management processes and governance practices.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within the telecommunications, cable, broadband, or internet service provider industry.
• Professional certifications such as CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional), DRII, BCI, or equivalent Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery certifications.
• Experience using Fusion Framework or similar Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery management platforms.
• Familiarity with Cherwell CMDB and IT service management solutions.
• Knowledge of enterprise risk management and governance frameworks.
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments with complex application and infrastructure dependencies.
