Position Overview:
PCCS provides diverse internship opportunities designed to offer students hands-on experience in the nonprofit and social service sectors. The structured internship program aligns with each intern's academic and career aspirations, ensuring meaningful learning experiences. Interns engage in real-world responsibilities while receiving mentorship to build essential skills for careers in social services, clinical social work, and administrative roles.
  • Direct Support & Program Assistance: Assist in organizing and facilitating activities that promote social, vocational, and life skills for people with developmental disabilities. Provide hands-on support to people in various programs, ensuring engagement and inclusion.
  • Advocacy & Person-Centered Support: Support self-advocacy efforts by assisting people in expressing their needs, preferences, and goals. Participate in efforts to promote accessibility, inclusion, and disability rights.
  • Administrative & Operational Support: Assist with documentation, data entry, and maintaining records in compliance with agency policies. Support grant writing, fundraising, or program development efforts as needed. Participate in team meetings, staff training, and case discussions to gain insight into nonprofit operations.
  • Community Outreach & Engagement: Help coordinate community events, workshops, and awareness campaigns. Network with local organizations to connect people with additional resources and services. Represent the organization in outreach activities to educate the public on disability services and advocacy.
  • Reporting Ensure proper reporting, investigation, and review of all incidents relative to OPWDD Part 624 regulations and the New York State Justice Center.
  • Professional Development & Learning: Complete all mandatory and assigned trainings as needed. Take the initiative in asking for support in areas needed for development and enroll in training opportunities to assist with accomplishing professional goals. Receive mentorship and supervision to enhance understanding of nonprofit management and disability services. Engage in reflective learning through journaling, discussions, or project presentations.
  • All other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Job Skills
PCCS offers a variety of internship opportunities, including placements for Master of Social Work (MSW) and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students, as well as roles in communications and marketing, community learning, and other focus areas. Each internship has a designated task list and specific requirements tailored to academic programs and school guidelines.
