FULTON COUNTY SUMMER INTERNSHIP DEPARTMENT OF DIVERSITY & CIVIL RIGHTS COMPLIANCE DIVISION: DISABILITY AFFAIRS Overview The ADA Compliance Intern supports the Office of Diversity & Civil Rights Compliance (DCRC) in ensuring Fulton County's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and related accessibility standards. This internship provides hands-on experience in disability rights, reasonable accommodations, accessibility assessments, and public-sector compliance work. Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Public Administration, Human Resources, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Disability Studies, Legal Studies, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering.

Demonstrated interest in disability rights, accessibility, or public-sector compliance. Preferred Skills Coursework or experience related to ADA, disability services, accommodation, compliance, building codes or accessibility standards. Experience with research, case documentation, or policy review.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Demonstrated commitment to accessibility and inclusive practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties will vary depending on placement within the department.

Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assists with the intake, tracking, and documentation of ADA accommodation requests. Supports the interactive process by gathering information, preparing correspondence, and coordinating with employees and departments. Conducts research on ADA regulations, accessibility best practices, and emerging compliance trends.

Helps review County facilities, programs, and services for accessibility considerations. Assists with updating ADA policies, procedures, and resource materials. Supports the development of training materials and presentations related to disability awareness and ADA compliance.

Prepares reports, summaries, and data dashboards for internal use. Provides administrative and project support to the ADA Compliance team as assigned. Work Environment Interns will work under close supervision and will support the goals and daily operations of their assigned division within the Department of Diversity & Civil Rights Compliance.

Work may be performed in office settings, warehouse environments, or community locations. Some assignments may require outdoor work or lifting up to 25 lbs. Reports to ADA Administrator or designated ADA Compliance Lead Program Requirements Academic Standing: Must be at least 17 years old, and must be a recent high school graduate (or G.E.D.), an undergraduate student, or enrolled in a technical college Availability: Commit to a maximum of 29 hours per week on-site for the duration of the 10-12-week program

Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from the Fulton County Government Center Must demonstrate interest in public service, government operations, or civic engagement.
