Facilities Maintenance Technician Internship
Student Worker
This is a temporary full-time internship position running from May through September.
As a Student Workerin the position ofFacilities Maintenance Technician Intern, you will be paired with U.S. Forest Service facilities maintenance specialists to complete variety of tasks in the Umpqua National Forest throughout the summer operating season. You will be stationed at the Diamond Lake Ranger Station in Toketee, OR. US Forest Service will provide housing in Toketee.
COMPENSATION:
  • Hourly Rate: $17.45
  • Forest Service Housing Reimbursement: $1,500
  • Travel/Living Allowance: $3,000
  • Boot Reimbursement: $450 Maximum
  • CWE Reimbursement: $650 Maximum

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
PROJECT OVERVIEW: The participant crew members will be paired with U.S. Forest Service facilities maintenance specialists to complete variety of tasks in the Umpqua National Forest throughout the summer operating season. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Operations of water and wastewater systems and equipment.
  • General maintenance of facilities sites administrative facilities and recreational facilities.
  • Use of equipment such as power saws, drills, mowers and other like equipment, or hand tools, for site and facility maintenance.
  • Participant crew members will also help complete detailed field reports and enter data into various databases.

PUBLIC LAND CORPS (PLC) CAREER PATHWAY: Students that satisfactorily complete 640 hours of intern work through the PLC program can qualify to apply as an internal candidate for positions at the US Forest Service.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • UCC Student: Minimum of 6 credits at UCC in quarter either prior to or during internship. Educational reimbursement covers tuition and fees for 6 credits of Cooperative Work Experience.
  • Oregon Driver's License: Driver's license required unless medical condition prevents licensing.
