Radiologist Assistant Internship | Northern Colorado and Denver Metro Area

Radiology Imaging Associates (RIA) is comprised of over 100 radiologists. All with exceptional skill and expertise, most are fellowship-trained in their field of specialty for additional certification. We are dedicated to accurate and efficient patient diagnosis not matter what their condition. Our interventional radiologists perform some of the most leading-edge treatments available today. We partner with primary care physicians and hospitals across Colorado, Kansas, , and Hawaii to provide a resource for both patients and physicians.

RIA is looking to provide preceptorship for 2 Registered Radiologist Assistant students. The current RPA/RRA team covers more than 20 clinical sites and performs more than 40 different clinical exams including: All fluoroscopy exams in diagnostic radiology, outpatient and inpatient barium and water soluble studies of the GI tract, contrast visualization of the urinary tract, joint injections/aspirations, tube placements, lumbar punctures, and hysterosalpingograms.

Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation and willingness to move between multiple clinical sites
  • 3-5 years of hospital based diagnostic radiology experience as a registered technologist with ARRT
  • Colorado resident
  • Current BLS
  • Acceptance to ARRT approved Registered Radiologist Assistant Masterโ€™s program
  • Reliable and professional technologist
  • Strong clinical background
  • Commit to 4 clinical days a week (including school breaks during holidays)
    • Exception for approved personal time off and class

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take a leading role in patient management and assessment:
    • Verifies order for appropriateness
    • Obtains consent
    • Acts as liaison between radiologist and ordering provider
    • Practices ALARA and advocates for patient safety
    • Organizes daily patient schedule (with multiple sites when necessary)
  • Performs hospital fluoroscopy examinations and procedures under the supervision of a radiologist
  • Maintains sterile technique during invasive procedures
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills i.e.: emergency situations, critical patients
  • Knowledge of extensive protocol (adult and pediatric)
  • Follows medication guidelines and protocols
  • Assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient
  • Responsible for evaluating image quality, making initial image observations, and communicating those observations to the supervising radiologist

This internship is unpaid in satisfaction of educational requirements and does not offer a housing stipend.
