OverviewWe are looking for dynamic, high achievers that are ready to learn and grow with our organization. We offer a 10-12 week internship that gives you in depth experience in the specialty door industry while developing your leadership skills and building your career. This is a strong market, with a need for talented individuals that can execute on delivering meaningful results for our customers and our company.
Our LEAP (Leadership, Experiences, Applications, Performance) Program is dedicated to developing the skills and competencies of its associates. Through this internship opportunity you will get exposure to our brands and products, how we measure our financial success, Lean thinking methodologies that deliver superior quality, and the core processes that drive our business. This program provides interns with the opportunity to work within a manufacturing facility with the opportunity to gain exposure in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Customer Service or Quality.
This internship will provide you with experiential learning opportunities such as, day-to-day experience working in the field, special project ownership and formal presentation opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to learn from associates and leaders in your field of interest, including Executive Leadership. You will be assigned a mentor that can provide both industry and career advice. Additionally, as an Intern at Senneca you will have access to our Talent Management Software which provides over 23,000 e-learning courses that will enable you to grow personally and professionally. This breadth of experience and skill development will provide you a solid foundation to propel your career for years to come.

Responsibilities

  • Gain a strong understanding of how your area of study can be applied in a Manufacturing Environment through training, process shadows, on the job experience.
  • Develop and strengthen competencies required for your internship.
  • Take ownership to identify trends and recommend solutions within your area of focus.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects: define objectives, develop project plans, create agendas, facilitate meetings, manage timelines and deliverables, communicate updates, create contingency plans.
  • Complete financial and/or data analysis as required.
  • Accountable for delivering superior customer service (internally or externally as required).
  • Interact with various levels of corporate leadership, customers, vendors/suppliers, and employees to solve problems.  Implement actions that protect company assets and profitability.
  • Enhance ability to effectively communicate, influence and interact with all types of customers, contractors and co-workers.
  • Develop conflict resolution and relationship management skills.
  • Remain current with industry and macroeconomic trends by reading publications.
  • Must be a self-started and highly motivated.

Requirements

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to adapt to fast changing environment and effectively manage multiple responsibilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills – ability to interface effectively with customers and employees
  • Ability and desire to work in a hands-on, industrial environment
  • Previous internship and/or co-op experience preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, leadership, business acumen, project management, relationship building and teamwork experience through extracurricular activities, work experience or academics. Working knowledge of Adobe products a plus.
