Job description

Posting is only for candidates currently enrolled in an educational program through an a ccredited college, university or alternative program , which requires a practicum or internship.
Counselor Practicum students must have two years minimum teaching experience to complete practicum with NEISD
NOTE: Applications will not be processed until the candidate's program coordinator has submitted an official request in writing via email to studentplacements@neisd.net
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
To complete program requirements, which require a practicum and/or internship to gain necessary experience in the area of study requested (i.e. principal, counselor, nurse, librarian, speech pathologist, educational diagnostician, LSSP, master reading teacher, superintendent).
POTENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF A MENTOR):
1. B e a positive role model for students and support mission of North East Independent School District while following the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators
2. Cr eate an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
3. A ssist the mentor in managing student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student / Parent Handbook.
4. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
5. Maintain a professional relationship with campus staff, students, parents and community members.
6. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
7. Maintain confidentiality of information.
8. Report to campus on scheduled days and times that are agreed upon by principal, mentor, student, university and/or preparation program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be currently enrolled in an educational program, which requires a practicum or internship
  • M ust have met university / preparation program requirements to be eligible to complete practicum or internship
  • A bility to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur
  • S trong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
