To thrive as an Internship Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist, you need a solid understanding of digital marketing, analytics, and user experience principles, often supported by coursework or certifications in marketing, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with A/B testing tools (like Optimizely or Google Optimize), web analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics), and basic HTML/CSS is typically expected. Strong analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication skills help you generate insights and collaborate across teams. These abilities are vital for identifying opportunities, implementing tests, and driving measurable improvements in online performance.

This cross-functional work environment provides valuable exposure to different perspectives and skill sets, and interns often gain hands-on experience using industry-standard analytics tools. Additionally, you may participate in brainstorming sessions and performance reviews to discuss results and next steps for optimization initiatives.

Job description

Description

Sprout Social is looking to hire a Senior Director, Digital Marketing to join the Revenue Marketing team. This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of strategy and execution, responsible for driving pipeline, revenue, and customer growth across Sprout's full digital marketing engine.

Why join Sprout's Marketing team?

At Sprout Social, we don't just market products-we set the pace for how breakthrough brands connect with the world. We are social intelligence powering the future of customer connection, and our Marketing team is a driving force behind turning that vision into reality. We put our customers at the heart of our strategy to drive market leadership, generate demand and increase customer retention, all in close partnership with our Sales and CX teams. We lead with clarity, act with speed and measure success by the business results we create. Here, you'll have the freedom to test bold ideas, learn fast and shape the future-not only for Sprout, but for the global brands we empower. If you're ready to set the bar higher, own your impact and accelerate your career, this is where you belong.

What you'll do

  • Own and evolve Sprout's digital marketing strategy across web, paid media, and lifecycle marketing - driving measurable impact at every stage of the funnel for both our sales-led and self-serve businesses
  • Lead a team across three core functions: web and organic growth strategy (including SEO/AEO), paid media (paid search, paid social, display, programmatic, and third-party sponsorships), and lifecycle and email marketing
  • Manage significant paid media investment across channels with a bias for performance, rigor, and continuous optimization - bringing both strategic direction and hands-on accountability to channel execution when the moment calls for it
  • Partner closely with Marketing Operations and Campaigns to build a connected, data-driven revenue marketing engine - ensuring channel strategy, audience targeting, and measurement are tightly integrated
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the VP of Revenue Marketing and peer leaders across Field Marketing, Brand, Product Marketing, and Customer Marketing - translating digital performance into clear executive narratives that drive investment decisions and shape integrated go-to-market execution
  • Own forecasting and performance reporting for digital channels, proactively surfacing risks, opportunities, and scenario recommendations to executive stakeholders before they ask
  • Build and maintain a culture of experimentation - establishing structured testing frameworks across paid, web, and lifecycle to drive compounding performance improvements over time
  • Champion attribution modeling and full-funnel measurement, ensuring the team has the data infrastructure, reporting clarity, and analytical rigor to operate with confidence
  • Attract, develop, and retain top digital marketing talent - building a high-performing, accountable team with a strong point of view and a bias for action

What you'll bring

You are a data-obsessed digital marketing leader with deep expertise across paid media, web, and lifecycle channels in a B2B SaaS environment. You know how to set strategy and you know how to operationalize it. You bring executive presence and the communication skills to match - making complex performance data legible and compelling to peers and senior leadership alike. You're close enough to the work to know when something's off, and senior enough to know what to do about it.

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

  • 12+ years of digital marketing experience, with significant experience in B2B SaaS or subscription-based software; marketing or customer experience technology backgrounds strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of people management experience, including building and scaling multi-disciplinary digital marketing teams
  • Deep expertise in paid media strategy and execution, including hands-on experience managing six-figure monthly budgets across paid search, paid social, display, and programmatic channels
  • Demonstrated experience owning web and organic growth strategy, including SEO, AEO, conversion rate optimization, and web performance
  • Experience leading lifecycle and email marketing programs that drive engagement, pipeline, and expansion across multiple customer segments
  • Proven ability to own digital marketing forecasting and performance reporting, translating channel data into executive-ready insights and proactive recommendations
  • Strong experimentation mindset - you build test-and-learn frameworks, not one-off tests, and you know how to scale what works
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence - you can walk a CRO through a paid media dashboard and walk a CEO through what it means for the business

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

  • Experience supporting self-serve or product-led growth (PLG) motions, including conversion optimization across free trial or freemium funnels
  • Familiarity with modern martech stacks, including marketing automation, CDP, attribution, and analytics tooling
  • Background in high-growth public SaaS companies with exposure to external reporting requirements and investor-facing operating metrics
  • Experience partnering with or managing paid media agencies, including agency transitions and performance oversight

How you'll grow

Within 1 month, you'll plant your roots, including:

  • Build relationships with Revenue Marketing leadership and key cross-functional partners across Sales, Marketing Ops, Campaigns, and the broader GTM organization
  • Develop a deep understanding of Sprout's business model, GTM motions, customer segments, and digital marketing performance baseline
  • Audit existing lifecycle infrastructure and AI search presence - orienting Sprout's digital engine to effectively support both a product-led growth and sales-led GTM motion from day one

Within 3 months, you'll start hitting your stride by:

  • Taking full ownership of digital channel strategy and establishing a consistent, data-driven operating cadence across the team
  • Building trust as a performance-oriented partner to executive stakeholders - bringing the forecast, the story, and the recommendation together
  • Driving early wins in paid media efficiency, web conversion, or lifecycle engagement that demonstrate your team's impact on pipeline and revenue

Within 6 months, you'll be making a clear impact through:

  • Leading a connected, integrated digital marketing engine that operates with rigor and agility across all three functions
  • Evolving measurement frameworks and attribution models to give the team and leadership cleaner line-of-sight from channel activity to revenue outcomes
  • Establishing yourself as an indispensable partner to the VP of Revenue Marketing and a recognized voice in GTM investment strategy

Within 12 months, you'll make this role your own by:

  • Owning digital marketing strategy through annual and long-range planning cycles - bringing a strong point of view on where to invest, where to pull back, and where to experiment
  • Building a best-in-class digital marketing team with a culture of ownership, experimentation, and continuous improvement
  • Serving as a key driver of Sprout's full-funnel revenue marketing performance across both sales-led and self-serve motions

Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.
