Job description

Rockford Corporation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer Intern to support active construction projects across the United States. This internship provides hands-on field experience working directly with project management and field supervision on large-scale civil and pipeline construction projects. Project location will be determined based on current project needs and timing. Candidates must be willing to travel and temporarily relocate based on assignment. This position reports directly to the onsite Project Engineer and/or Project Manager and will work closely with field supervision and project controls teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily progress reporting and project documentation
  • Support quantity tracking and production monitoring
  • Prepare and assist with client invoicing and pay applications
  • Maintain and update Excel-based tracking worksheets
  • Assist with cost tracking and reporting
  • Coordinate with field supervision to verify installed quantities
  • Ensure documentation aligns with project specifications and contract requirements
  • Support overall project controls and administrative functions

Qualifications

  • Candidate is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced field environment
  • Willingness to travel and work at project sites across the United States
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Familiarity with cost reporting and quantity tracking processes
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications
  • Basic understanding of scheduling
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel
