Assistant Operations Manager, Marine

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Operations Manager, Marine to support the safe and efficient execution of daily vessel operations. This role is responsible for coordinating operational resources, leading frontline teams, and ensuring productivity, safety, compliance, and customer service objectives are achieved.

Working closely with terminal operations teams and external stakeholders, the Assistant Operations Manager, Marine will play a vital role in driving operational excellence, supporting workforce planning, and ensuring smooth vessel operations in a dynamic port environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the safe and efficient execution of daily marine and vessel operations

  • Supervise, coach, and develop frontline supervisors and operational personnel

  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and operational resources to optimize vessel productivity and terminal performance

  • Monitor vessel operations and make real-time decisions to address issues and minimize operational delays

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, safety standards, and maritime requirements

  • Collaborate with vessel planning, yard operations, maintenance teams, shipping lines, and port partners to support seamless terminal operations

  • Analyze operational performance data and KPIs to identify trends and improve productivity

  • Support incident investigations, corrective actions, workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation

What We Are Looking For

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset-curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field preferred

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in marine, terminal, logistics, transportation, or port operations

  • Strong understanding of container terminal and vessel operations, cargo handling processes, and terminal equipment

  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and employee development capabilities

  • Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in a dynamic operational environment with variable shifts, including evenings and weekends
