Job description

TRL11 is a venture backed deep tech / defense tech startup bringing cutting-edge video technology to Aerospace applications. Based in Irvine, CA, we are seeking engineering interns for the summer of 2026. Summer internships typically cover a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, optical, manufacturing, software, and test engineering. Our engineers contribute directly to real projects that support TRL11 product development. Join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of Human Space Exploration and US National Security.
Job Duties:
  1. Measure and analyze camera components and system performance
  2. Assist with hardware testing, board validation and bring up, and debugging of electrical systems
  3. Inspect, assemble, and measuer mechanical components and enclosures
  4. Assist hardware engineers with mechanical and electrical CAD and drawings
  5. Write and execute test plans and present reports to engineering leadership
  6. Optimize in house production system parameters, such as 3D printing configurations.
  7. Design test and assembly fixtures and tools
  8. Write test scripts for evaluating software or hardware functionality and performance

Requirements
  1. Pursuing a Bachelor's of Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar STEM field.
  2. Exposure to CAD tools (Onshape, Solidworks, Altium, etc)
  3. Familiarity with cameras, electronics, and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc).
  4. Proven project or work experience building or testing physical items.
  5. Strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and good communication skills.
  6. Familiarity with the basic principles of optics and imaging senors.
  7. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
