Job description

Summary:
The Experiential Therapist Intern develops, plans, implements, facilitates, directs and evaluates experiential therapy programming in all specialized treatment areas. The Experiential Therapist Intern will have a working knowledge of the psychosocial functioning of patient/resident groups as well as application of expressive activities within a psychiatric setting. These include, but are not limited to, adventure-based and environmental activities, sports, dance, group initiatives, arts/crafts, music, outdoor activities, art media, psychodrama, horticulture, ropes and challenge course.Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Per program description and in partnership with your university, this internship may include duties of cognitive behavioral therapies in addition to social services. Specific details of the experience will be developed by Rogers in collaboration with your university and may include the following:

  • Evaluate, plan and coordinate experiential programming.
  • Complete documentation or treatment according to Rogers policy.
  • Establish a therapeutic rapport with patient/resident groups, while maintaining appropriate, professional relationships.

Education/Training Requirements:
  • Enrolled or recently graduated from a BS/BA degree program, preferably in art, music, dance, recreation, or other therapies required.
  • Successful completion of all Rogers onboarding training coursework is required prior to start.
  • Formal training in the management of the aggressive patient (NCI) is required within sixty (60) days of date of placement. Annual re-certification is required and will be provided.
  • Successful completion of pre-placement background checks through the Rogers system are required.
  • Successful occupational health clearance from your provider is required.
