Sterling Engineering is hiring a CNC Manufacturing Engineer for a well-established precision machining company with more than 70 years of manufacturing excellence. This is a great opportunity to join a growing engineering team that has recently invested in advanced CNC equipment, Swiss machining technology, robotics, automation, CAD/CAM programming, and CMM inspection systems. You'll play a critical role in shaping the future of the company's manufacturing engineering function while working on complex, high-precision components for demanding industries. If you enjoy process development, programming, continuous improvement, and solving challenging manufacturing problems, this role offers significant technical ownership and long-term career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for high-volume production machining
  • Support CAD/CAM programming and manufacturing process development
  • Program and support INDEX Swiss, CNC lathes, multi-spindle CNC machines, and similar turning equipment
  • Develop machining strategies that improve productivity, quality, and cycle times
  • Review customer drawings, GD&T requirements, and engineering specifications
  • Select tooling, establish cutting parameters, and develop tooling packages
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, setup sheets, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation
  • Troubleshoot CNC programming, tooling, setup, production, and quality issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and manufacturing performance
Qualifications:
  • Must have 5-10+ years of strong CNC programming experience in a production machining environment
  • Must have substantive experience with CAD/CAM software (Esprit or similar preferred)
  • Needs to be able to read, edit, troubleshoot, and optimize G-code and M-code programs
  • Experience programming INDEX Swiss, Swiss CNC, multi-spindle CNC, CNC lathes, or similar equipment
  • Strong understanding of tooling selection, feeds and speeds, offsets, setup strategy, and cycle time optimization
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
